I am interested in soil protists ecology, particularly in understanding how climate change impacts their diversity and their interactions. Protists represent the majority of eukaryotic diversity and play a central role in soil ecosystems, especially as major consumers of the soil microbiome. My research project focuses on the effects of extreme climatic conditions on protist diversity, both in terms of taxonomic and functional diversity. I aim to explore their interactions with other protists and microorganisms such as bacteria and bacteriophages under these extremes conditions. To achieve this, I will employ different methods, including microcosm experiments and environmental DNA sequencing. This project will enhance our understanding of protist ecology in the context of climate extremes and provide insights into their responses to a climate-changing world.
